PVD Coating

TTI Group Ltd offer a very good range of high quality PVD Coatings from its plant at Birmingham. The central location of the site and the TTI Group transport network mean fast turnaround times can be offered to customers. This, coupled with a short coating cycle times provides a rapid Coating Service to the whole of the UK.

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposited) Coatings are extremely hard (typically 3 to 4 times harder than tool steel), often have a low coefficient of friction and are extremely wear resistant. Coating thickness is in the range 2 to 5 microns. Apart from the common TiN (Titanium Nitride), TiCN and CrN (Chromium Nitride) coatings available, TTI also deposit a range of harder AlTiN coatings, including Variantic? and Exxtral Plus?. These coatings have been designed by Eifeler GmbH and the resulting properties are proven to work in a wide range of more arduous applications.

PVD Coatings are applied to a wide range of cutting and metal forming tools to improve the life of the tool. Whether it is punches, dies, tools which have been regound, cutters or drills, PVD Coating will always provide a significant improvement in tool life.

Both High Speed Steel and Carbide tooling benefit from PVD Coating and it is also possible to PVD Coat steels which have been nitrided. In this case the benefits obtained can be exceptional. PVD Coatings can also be applied to components with great success, particularly Stainless Steels and Titanium Alloys to prevent cold welding during operation.
